Rooster Farm

It amazes me what humans do to entertain themselves. The concrete tepees house fighting roosters that are tethered to each "house," waiting to be sold for exorbitant sums to people who conduct cock fights. The two roosters at the bottom demonstrate their fighting spirit, without the spurs I might add.

Sad subject but a great shot Kate.

I have never seen such a place. It is kind of strange. Do the animals live in those little tents?

I thought at first glance that this was a fairly civilised way of raising roosters..now I know what it really is...oh yuck.
They are so beautiful and so tragic.

Fortunately cock fighting is illegal where I live as is dog fighting. People who do this have a need I guess that they can't seem to fill in other ways. It is a shame.

I have a picture of a rooster. A natural kind of chicken with spurs at least 3 inches long and possible 4. Those would go into your muscles that deep if he attacked you or me.

That's a fascinating set-up. But it makes me sick to think how these people make their "blood money"...

This is such a sad picture - what a wretched life they must lead.

That is SO strange! it looks like a tiny camp ground... I feel bad for these creature. I wonder, do they eat the roosters after a fight? Like how they use the meat of a bull after a fight to give to the poor...

Very intersting post Kate. We recently saw a documentary about these rooster fights wiht high bets. It's dreadful, but even though it's a crual tradition it's still perpetuates in many places in Europe.

I'm appalled! I wish it were illegal in Mexico. Cock fighting, pit bull fighting - too awful.

Humans should learn a bit of humanity.

I was speechless when I looked at that rooster ghetto. I never cease to be amazed at what people do and as far as any creatures fighting to the death for the amusement of human beings. Blaah.....

theres alot of debate concerning rooster fights/cock fights here in the islands - I dont necessarily think its a good thing but this photo you posted is amazing - seeing all the houses for the roosters!

Cock fights are in the news here at the moment - some people having been convicted of being involved (they are illegal) Notoriously difficult to prove, but the RSPCA tries what it can....

absolutely fascinating pictures, kate.
