Pelican

This pelican had a restful day on Sunday because the fisherman do not ply their trade on Domingo. Normally the birds are flapping around with lots of energy when the local and commercial fisherman return with their catches in the morning. I guess birds need to have a day of rest, too.

beautiful, Kate. The bird AND the photograph. We'd see pelicans on the foreshore in Cairns - just loved watching them. I'm envying you this trip to Mexico. You show it to us so well and make it all so mouthwatering.

It looks very pretty.

Too spoiled this pelican? Not going fishing by itself? Just a nice life on a nice beach!

A classic pelican photo. I always admire these birds whose beaks hold more than their belly can.

Thanks for the visit.

When I saw a Pelican in the flesh I couldn't get over how big they are!

This is a great capture. It really is an interesting bird. Such a long beak makes him a great catcher! I am sure “he” (un pélican in French) will be soon back to work, flying in the air.

Oh I remember when I lived in Coast Rica (oh, 30 years ago !)the pelicans on the Pacific coast in Punta Arenas, they were grey too.

In Australia, they are black and white!

The pelican may have thought of Domingo as a day of hunger.
