Bon Voyage

Several days a week from our terrace we can see the cruise ships when they dock in the channel miles away, arriving at 6am and then departing between 5:30 and 6pm on the same day. Watching them is fascinating because these behemoths can turn on a dime as well as move swiftly through the water. The wharf area is a city in itself with every kind of shop and service imaginable; however, instead of remaining in the immediate area, most passengers hustle off the ship, ride into El Centro or Zona Dorada, spending the day looking at local culture and spending money in souvenir shops or the central mercado. A lucky few find Stone Island which is a paradise of thatched roof restaurants and a sandy beach along the shoreline. One night this ship left just a little behind schedule which is rare since their arrivals and departures are dependable as clockwork. The lighted Cathedral's spires and the ship's lights made a spectacular scene.

belle photo de nuit, il est superbe (avec cet éclairage) ce bateau. Cela donne envie d'une petite croisière.

nice night photograph, it is superb (with this illumination) this boat. It gives desire of a small cruise.

Spectacular indeed kate. There's a strong element of dream in these ships isn't there?

However seeing the ravages the sheer number of tourists they drop everywhere they go leaves me wondering just how much the people who take these cruises can get to know about the places where they stop. Not much at all eh?

How is basking in that warm sun? Amazing to see the size comparison of the cruise ship and cathedral.

Very cool picture. The cruise ship looks so huge! How do you like living in Mazatlan? Have you been to a lot of the Mazatlan hotels?

those lights look so festive. Beautiful setting, would work great as a backdrop to a nice mellow Bollywood romantic number.

We loved our two cruises and made as much as could of the stops as did most of passangers. There were those who were there more for the lifestyle and didn't care where the ship went but we are all different.

Amazing! The ship seems to be among the town buildings!

You do have a good view from your terrace. You can almost eat dinner and watch them sail away.
