At the Mercado in El Centro, a shopper can find clothes, household items, souvenirs for the gringo tourists, fruits and vegetables, spices and herbs, dairy products, fish, and meat. I decided that while I am living here I would shop as the Mexicans do. The vendors usually are happy to have the photos taken and pose willingly. This man obviously is proud of the work he does!!

I should be so lucky as to have willing subjects.
I was photographing some architectural features of a retail outfit on a greenfield site yesterday (from a public road..) and the manager came out and asked if I had permission...
Go figure
les mexicains aiment vraiment poser pour les photographes, c'est vraiment sympathique. il a l'air bien heureux ce boucher, encore un beau portrait
the Mexicans really like to pose for the photographers, it is really sympathetic nerve. it has the quite happy air this butcher, still a beautiful portrait
what a happy chap.
btw meat looks very fresh.
Yes this man sure does seem proud. Looks like he has plenty of tasty meat to sell. So is all that meat for you to eat?
Yes, looks like it. Like the way his shirt matches the meat!
Oh, my - it looks like one of those steaks could feed a whole family!
They people seem warm and friendly.
What a great human exchange you are having there, Kate. Love this photo catching him in his work, and happy at that.
ooo. so much meat!
he looks like a very happy man. a very satisfied worker!
Once again a great photo showing the local vendors. I doubt the vendors where I live would be this open to a photo.
Greetings from icy, but sunny summer place!I got so much sunshine, that my face are quite red!! Northern, thin skin, you know!
Colourful to say the least!
The meat looks really fresh and really delicious.
This pile of meet slices look very savoury and tender!
Norma, all I can tell you is that it is beef! From my limited knowledge during my 3-month stay, I don't think Mexicans are big meat eaters, at least the way we prepare beef in the US. Ironic, tho, because the mercados are full of meat vendors. Because the cuts are thin and tough to my taste, I eat lots of chicken and fish (which is divine!), and loads of fresh vegetable. Good diet, too.
