Cruise Ship Leaving Port

From my apartment window I can look out and see the docked cruise ships. They arrive early in the morning and leave around 6-6:30 pm. The passengers spend the day spending money while eating and shopping in El Centro and the Zona Dorada. I'm not a big fan of cruise ships because of the environmental damage caused in many ports around the world, but the economic factor for the town's people creates a "need" for them. Around 5 pm I smile as I see a parade of taxis and pulmonias taking the passengers back to the ferry for departure. I've gone to the docks and have been amazed because there is a city in itself right there: internet, restaurants, shops of all kinds, and entertainment. Twice I've been able to slip past security checking passenger ID's as they board the trolleys to be transported back to the ship. Had I wanted, I probably could have boarded and sailed away!!

Thanks for your comment Kate.

Pretty impressive the size of the ship compared to the rest!

How often does the cruise ship come to port? It looks like a huge ship. Is that then QM II?

Amazing photograph. There are probably nearly as many people on the ship as in the town.

Well, I'm glad you stayed and show us more photos of the city! This is a great one...what an amazing view from your window!

I bet you are not too sorry to miss St. Paddy's celebrations (having Mazatlan as your alternative), but just in case, I'm off right now to a parade downtown and to have some green beer - I'll take some pics for you ;-)

That ship is huge! It dwarfs everything else.
At least it's a way of travelling that doesn't pollute the air I guess.

Floating apartments! smaller cruise ships come here as well from time to time but it takes a bit of wooing. Yes, green was a theme too.

It looks like one of the new Princess ships - I think they hold up to 3000 passengers fully loaded.

Wow, what a huge ship!
Very impressive because the buildings there seem to be really small!
Have a nice weekend and don't get aboard in the wrong boat! ;)

What a massive cruise ship. Fabulous photograph. I hope you've got an amazing telescope so you sit and see just what goes on from your window...

I left a comment for you on Menton DP.

I would love to go on a cruise some day. Don't know if I want to take the 4 kids, though. :)
