Quite A Show!

Guest Photographer: My apartment neighbor and fellow photographer, Roger Evert from Sherwood Park, Alberta Canada took this photo. The diver in action is extremely diffficult to capture!

Wow, that's pretty awesome. The height is pretty scary for me. Love the shot of the action.

What an action shot! Not to mention, I'm sure he's diving into water, but from what is seen in the photo, it looks a bit scary!

Hola Kate, indeed not easy I guess to catch the diver in this incredibly (supemanlike)position. And from the photographer's point of wiew, it seems that he's gonna fall on the rocks! Ouch, scary, you're right Slinger...

Awesome shot! It looks like he's preparing for a belly flop... ouch!!! Luckily he has more than enough time to make it a dive! I looks like fun!

Wonderful capture by your neighbor!

And if he jumps too early or too late there will be a mess. I have seen people jumping from this place or one like it but it was ages ago.

Did he survive! Is this a trick shot?
Very deceptive, has us wondering...

Julie, I'm surprised at your questions. No, it is not a trick shot nor deceptive. Young men here in Mazatlan do this routinely to make money in order to survive in the real world. Tourist donate money to the divers after they surface. The dive itself is tricky and quite dangerous if they misjudge.

Wow, that's probably one of the scariest jobs. Although, it would be much more fun than sitting in front of a computer 9-5...

got your note - thnx -the diving is very skilful. I meant that from my angle it is difficult to see the actual water he will dive into, in that way it is a curious photo (as well as capturing the action so well)

Kate,
A million apologies. I did not know that you were up and running and blogging in Mazatlan.
I really love your photgraphs, and today's is stunning.

Twice a day, daring divers take a 45-foot plunge head first off a cliff and into tidal pools. These thrilling dives take place at Glorieta del Clavadista, a high point near Cerro de la Neverfa, or “Ice Box Hill.” It got its name because during the 1900s they use to import ice all the way from San Francisco in order to preserve all the seafood caught locally. Divers do not perform in inclimate weather, but who would.

What a great shot. Looks as if the diver is about to land on the rocks but I am sure it's just the angle. I don't think I would have the guts to jump off perfectly good ground.

From here it looks as if he's headed straight for those rocks..ouch!
Lovely photo.

...and he took the photo because you were preparing to dive next?
Never in a million years would I do this.

Ahh...that's wonderful...Excellently captured shot!

At the first glance, this diving trick looked pretty dangerous to me (especially with the different obtacles on the way!). Then, I read your last comment about the fact that young men do this kind of tricks for money. It's a great show but I hope they are very well trained so no accident occure.
